Off to a Great Start for 2012

January 11, 2012

We hope you had a wonderful holiday season and are ready and raring to go for all that is in store for 2012!

Apparently, the DNR didn’t like the complaints we lodged on your behalf. You can read DNR’s response HERE.

So you know what 7 members of the Coalition did about it?

They went straight to the top and on Monday filed a 60 Notice of Vilolation with Intent to Sue.

Remember this?  Your voice is still being heard!

These 7 organizations which include the Friends of Mat Su and other local groups, are committed to safeguarding the quality of life in the Mat Su.

We hope that by directly talking with Usibelli and alerting the company to the problem, it will do the right thingand stop operations until it obtains a valid permit.

The health of our families and our community depend on the company having a valid permit that complies with the law and protects us.

If we don’t speak up now and require they follow the law, the community will be left to clean up the mess when they break environmental and safety laws in the future.

We will update you further as it developes.

This is about equal justice for all residents of the Mat Su!

Here is some recent press on the issue:

Have Hope. We continue to stand strong together and will face these threats to our health, safety, and properties head on, hand in hand.
