Wishbone Hill Coal District

Wishbone Hill Coal District

Wishbone Hill Coal District stretches over 9 miles restricting access to the trails leading to the Matanuska Moose Range.

These coal leases are next to homes, businesses, schools, youth camps, a prison, and 4 community councils.  It is only 5 miles up the Scenic Glenn Highway from the City of Palmer.  Within a few miles of the mine area are over $80 million in property values.  Over 3,000 homes within a few miles downstream of the proposed coal mines rely on wells.

I am praying that the permit does not go through for the Wishbone Hill Cole Strip Mine. I already have the new trunk road going in front of my house… which is on a secluded deadend road right now, my property value is going to be in the toilet. Now that they want to allow them to strip mine, that is really going to screw up our way of quality life and chance selling our home. If the housing market was better I would get the heck out of Palmer because nobody cares about the people who live here. Sure… “Oh, it’s a beautiful 6,000 sq ft home on 5 acres… mountain views from every window… but with a flipping hwy and a coal mine I don’t think we are interested in buy your home”!!! That is what we are going to be hearing… Is the Borough going to buy our home? No… coal dust everywhere, since the wind blows allot. Let me know what we need to do the try and stop this… Thank you for the phone call and the heads up. Hope it’s not to late…
